Cumbuco is situated on the North East coast of Brazil in the state of Ceara, 35km from the city of Fortaleza. Cumbuco is a small sleepy fishing village with a population of 1600. The white sandy beach stretches for 15km and is lined with palm trees with the warm Atlantic Ocean lapping at it. The village has many beach Barracas, good restaurants and bars. You can buy fresh fruits and all essentials from the small supermarkets and wonderful fresh fish from the fish market in the centre of the village. The people of Cumbuco are friendly, laid back and welcoming.

The Ocean The Atlantic Ocean here in North East Brazil is always warm, board shots and a rash vest are all you need, all year round, sea temperature is 26-28 degrees. There is a shore-dump wave that varies in size of 0.5m to 1m but does not cause a problem to teach safely. There have been NO reported shark attacks in Ceara state, the ocean floor is sandy and does not support large predators.
