GRAN CANARIA SURF - WAVES
“Gran Canaria Surf ” possesses a wide
variety of beaches of fine golden sand to the south and dark sand
to the north of the island. There are also beaches of small
rounded lava stones… Excellent for surf schools!!
Maspalomas with its natural park “Dunas de Maspalomas” is a area
with big dunes of very fine sand. Located in the
south of “Gran Canaria” in “San Bartolome”
district is perhaps the best beach of the island stretching for
over 6 km. The landscape is overwhelming with its long dunes and
clear blue sea. Large tourist complexes are located here with
resorts, hotels, apartments and sports facilities specially in
“el Faro de Maspalomas” where you can find a marina
at the beach of “Pasito Blanco”.
Very
close to the beach there is a large oasis with palm trees and
a fresh water lake that leads to the sea which makes this place
a true paradise.

“Playa
del Ingles” is located close to “Maspalomas”.
Its fine golden sand beach stretches for 2.7km with a
clear blue sea. This is one of the preferred touristic spots
where you can find the most modern hotels and sport facilities
in the island.
“San Agustín” is a very quite location. Its apartment complexes with wide
green areas, hotels, bungalows and shopping
areas will guarantee you a great holiday away from the noise.
“Playa de Patalavaca” with its golden fine sand beach has excellent facilities
and deep water fishing facilities.

“Puerto Rico” is a modern complex with apartments, hotels, villas and bungalows
and a marina with capacity for over 500 boats. You can find several sports facilities that include diving,
jet ski, Hangliding, etc…
“Costa de Bañaderos” is a beautiful shoreline with small inlets and beautiful landscape.
It’s the favourite shoreline for “Gran Canaria” surfers for its wide variety of waves and all year around consistency.

Galdar offers small protected beaches. Here is the famous wave “el Fronton” much appreciated by the “Gran
Canarian” radical body boarders.
Sardina del Norte is located next to a very typical village. It has beautiful
small beache of thick sand.
“La Playa de las
Canteras”, located at
the capital, the city of “Las Palmas” is a beautiful
and ample beach of fine sand stretching for 2.6km. Here
is located the famous beach of “Cicer” undoubtedly
the birthplace of Canaria islands surf back in the 70’s.
Most of the Canary island surfing community learned how to surf
at this beach.
LA
CIUDAD DE LAS PAMAS
The province capital with a population of 353.000. A joyfully and peacefull city characteristic of a population
that knows how to enjoy life and show the southern hospitality. There are “fiestas” all year
around, numerous shows and leisure facilities, very good gastronomy (local and international) and beautiful monuments.
It is a city full of culture.
CULTURAL INTEREST
The Cathedral,
is located on “Santa Ana” square. Here you can see
the facade of “Obispado” and several other
typical canarian buildings
“El Barrio
de la Vegueta” is full
of typical houses with their nice wooden balconies. One of them hosts a main Spanish modern art centre, the
“Centro Atlántico de Arte Moderno” where
you'll find numerous works of art from Canarian and International
artists.
La Casa de Colón,
currently the “Colombino” museum.
El Museo Canario,
exhibits the largest collection of remains of “guanche”
the pre-Hispanic inhabitants of the isles.
El Pueblo Canario is located inside the beautiful gardens of “Parque Doramas”
created by the canarian artist Néstor de la Torre. It 's an example of the typical canarian architecture with houses
with beautiful wooden balconies. On Thursdays and Sundays you
can watch live canarian folk music and
dances.
El jardín Canario,
a real botanic museum, created to preserve the indigenous flora
of the Canarias Islands. There are over 500 indigenous species
in Canarias.
Other monuments of interest are the “Museo
de Bellas Artes” (Fine Arts
Museum) and the house museum of “Perez Galdós”, located
inside de park at “Pueblo Canario”.
