The Archipelago was well-known as Las Afortunadas among the romans, but the surfers nowadays call it Eurpean Hawaii. There you will be able to surf some world class waves, like El Confital, in Gran Canary. But the favourite destination for surfers is Lanzarote, some of the best spots are Jameos del Agua, Famara Beach, El Quemao and La Santa. Those islands and Fuerteventura are the best for surfing holidays, due their perfect spots for every one: beach breaks, reef breaks and point breaks… beginners and experienced will find right conditions for them.
In Lanzarote we strongly recommend staying in Famara Village, because there are a lot of surf spots in the town and the surrounding area: El Muelle, San Juan and Famara Beach (where rolls our Surf School). In the island of fire you will find the best conditions you are looking for, from the mellow beach break of Famara to some point or heavy reef break for the experienced surfer. Great food and local culture will make the rest to make you live an unforgettable experience of waves and surf. Go trekking, biking, surfing, enjoy the natural sight of rocks and Ocean, breath the pure air of the Atlantic and live the tranquility of a real surf town as Caleta de Famara. Calima Surf offers you the best accommodation in this remote lava island home to greatest European surf, right in the middle of the Atlantic, to score the best swells and spend time with people like you having fun and enjoying. Outdoors activities, multi adventure packages, windsurfing and kitesurf are also popular on the island.
Gran Canary and Fuerteventura are also perfect for windsurfing and kitesurfing.
Fuerteventura Island is totally different from the others Canary Islands, like reproducing a small part of Africa right in the middle of the Ocean. The island stretch along in the NE-SW direction, just embracing almost the totality of the Atlantic swell, from the smallest sea movement to the biggest groundswell manageable. Corralejo is the place to be in Fuerteventura, with a lot of travellers and surfers from all over the world, a town with all the services you need and also the best beaches around in few minutes. All the east coast offers really good points when the current and the wind-swell funnels throughout the channel, while the north coast can give you the emotion of the more intense ride of your life when the Atlantic is hitting and the wind is off! If you are looking for waves and wind, we recommend a small and lovely town called Corralejo, located at the north shore of Fuerteventura. But if you are looking for strong winds and some of the best wind and kite centers of the world, then South Fuerteventura is you right destination, because Sotavento beach is some of the most consistent wind spots in the world, with many kilometers of white sandy beaches, downwind and upwind. In fact, just in front of the Pro Center rolls the Kitesurf and Windsurf World Cup Contest.
Gran Canaria is the most populated of the Canary Island, with its big towns, and a lot of tourist facilities, will give you the opportunity to surf and kite in the best conditions as well as live the city life of the Canarians. Meet some local and go around the island after your surfing sessions. Our apartments close to the beach will make you lose almost no time on the way to the shore. Swim in clean waters; observe the marine nature of the reefs and the marvelous beaches of the island. Golden sand on the south coast where other beginners like you will look for some nice soft wave to ride, while in the points and reef the experienced and seasoned surfers will know how to have some real solid fun! Las Palmas means good waves and night life; there you can find some world class spots and nice beaches, like La Ciser. In the north shore is located the famous spot called El Fronton, special for Kamikazes and Crazy Bodyborders. The south side is also exciting, but the waves are not so strong, so is better for beginners… anyway, Playa del Ingles can be really perfect sometimes.
